Unit 11: SUMMARY
Learning Differences
Advocate for yourself.
Students with disabilities such as learning differences, ADD/ADHD, depression, anxiety, or physical disabilities often struggle in high school as they learn to develop habits, routines, and accommodations that allow them to be successful. Once students find their personal formula for success, it is important to continue practicing those skills and to learn how to self-advocate for their specific needs.
Education and planning in three areas can ensure success in college:
• Self Knowledge: Gaining an understanding of your needs and learning to articulate how they impact your ability to learn
• Self-Advocacy: Developing the ability to advocate for yourself
• Legal Landscape: Understanding the legal landscape of higher education and how it differs from high school
